1. In your My Book packet, fill out the chapter list. Each chapter is its own little story. This the chapter where he finds the ….. This is the chapter where he gets lost in… This is the chapter where he meets…
2. Your first chapter is your introduction, setting the background to the story. By the end of the 1st chapter or in the second chapter you should have your inciting incident that will set your story in motion.
3. It might be easier to fill in the last chapter’s spot next. Your last chapter is your resolution, what happens to everyone in the end.
4. The middle few chapters will be your rising action or what happens in the story as we are moving towards the big event. Remember that in between the inciting incident and the climax, your protagonist and antagonist each need to have times when they are ahead and when they are behind. There will be lots of little stories in these chapters.
5. At some point towards the end will be the chapter with your climax, the exciting last event.
6. After the climax will be one or a few chapters with your falling action. This is where the story gets wrapped up and we see how everything turned out. You may not be able to fill in all the chapter spots on the worksheet. That’s okay. Do your best. Aim for ten.
