Grade 3 - Week 4 (Day 16-20)

Day 16-

Math- Log into Kahn Academy and do 20 minutes with an adult.

Reading- Read Chp 16 of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Writing- Answer 4 questions from the Goblet of Fire Chp 16-20 questions. Tell an adult the answer to two more questions and have them write it on your sheet.

Vocabulary- Do HPGF4-1

Science-

1. Read Pg 54 in your Science textbook. Read the Quick Check question to an adult and talk about it.  Write the answer to the quick check in your science notebook.

2. Read the Visual Summary on pg 55 in your Science textbook. Answer Questions 1, 2, 5, and 6 in your Science notebook. Talk to an adult about questions 3 and 4.

Music-

1. While some of those drums were modern, I figured a drum was probably the earliest instrument. But I thought of another. The whistle. Can you whistle? Try to learn if you can’t.

2. Listen to a whistling song. Click on the play triangle (and nothing else). This song is from the old Disney movie, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. It’s actually a humming song too. Even if you can’t whistle, you can hum. The voice is another instrument the Lord made along with all the songs of nature.

German-

1. This week we are learning about colors. Watch the Painting video.

2. Here are some new words. Practice them each three times:

blau - blue

rot - red

grün - green

schwarz - black

grau - grey

rosa - pink

gelb - yellow

lila - purple

weiß - white

gold - gold

braun - brown

bunt - colorful

der Regenbogen - the rainbow

3. Watch this video and practice the names of the colors.

4. Here are the lyrics to a new song about colors.

5. Practice singing the colors song.

6. Go tell mommy what the color of something is in German.

History- Listen to Story of the World pg. 76-83.

Day 17-

2. Watch the Painting video.

3. Watch this video to review the names of the colors.

4. Sing the colors song.

5. Watch the Visitors from Germany video.

6. Tell your brother, "The dog is brown," in German. Tell your sister, "The cat is black," in German.

Day 18-

1. Read about and look at Egyptian paintings and carvings.

2. Draw an Egyptian like in this painting.

2. Do you remember the song about bees?

3. Watch this video about colors.

4. Watch the Hello video for review.

5. Go tell Mommy the color of three things.

6. Ask your brother how he is and tell him you are wonderful.

History- Listen to Story of the World pg. 83-87.

Day 19-

Math- Log into Kahn Academy and do 20 minutes with an adult.

Reading- Read Chp 19 of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Writing- Answer 4 questions from the Goblet of Fire Chp 16-20 questions. Tell an adult the answer to three more questions and have them write it on your sheet.

Vocabulary- Do HPGF4-4

Thinking- Learn how to move a bishop. Take the quiz when you are done.

Science- Read Pg 64-65  in your Science textbook. Read the Quick Check question to an adult and talk about it.  Write the answer to the quick check in your science notebook.

1. Watch the Painting video.

2. Practice singing the colors song.

3. Watch this video about colors.

4. Play this color game and see if you can figure out what's missing. "Schwoops! Was fehlt?!" Means, "Whoops! What's missing?" in German

5. Watch the Wie Geht's video for review.

6. Do you remember the Onkel Fritz song?

7. Here are some new words:

Welche Farbe ist - Which color is

Meine Lieblingsfarbe ist - My favorite color is

8. Go point to something and ask Mommy, "Which color is this?" in German. Tell your sister your favorite color in German.

Day 20-

Math- Log into Kahn Academy and do 20 minutes with an adult.

Reading- Read Chp 20 of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Writing- Using at least 6 sentences, describe how Harry gets through the first task.

Vocabulary- Do HPGF4-5

Science- Read Pg 66-67 in your Science textbook. Read the Quick Check question to an adult and talk about it.  Write the answer to the quick check in your science notebook.

German-

1. Watch the Painting video.

2. Practice singing the colors song.

3. Watch this video about colors.

4. Sing the song about bees.

5. Watch the Visitors from Germany video.

6. Tell your brother what color your favorite animal is in German (like "the frog is green"). Ask your sister, "Who is that?" and then tell here, "That is my friend." Go tell Mommy, "Good morning Mrs. Mommy. How are you?" Don't forget to shake hands.
